2021-22 Serie A: TLN Matchday 32 Preview

In Matchday 32 of the 2021-22 Serie A, Napoli hosts Fiorentina at the Stadio San Paolo, Sassuolo hosts Atalanta at the Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore, and Torino hosts Milan at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on 10 April 2022.

Napoli vs Fiorentina (8:55 AM EST)

Napoli currently sit in second place in Serie A with 66 points (20W-6D-5L), just one point behind league leaders Milan. In their previous league fixture, they defeated Atalanta 3-1 thanks to goals from Lorenzo Insigne, Matteo Politano and Elif Elmas.

Fiorentina currently sit in eighth place in Serie A with 50 points (15W-5D-10L), nine points back from a UEFA Champions League spot and two points back of Lazio for the final European spot (with a match in hand against Udinese). In their previous league fixture, they dominated Empoli with 24 shots and 63% ball possession to secure a 1-0 victory. This was primarily the result of Azzurri defender Sebastiano Luperto picking up a red card in the 57′.

Match Insights & Players to Watch

Napoli (59%) and Fiorentina (57%) are the two teams in Serie A that have the highest average possession this season. The Partenopei have won their last three games against the Viola in Serie A; however, they have only won three of their last eight matches at the Stadio San Paolo.

Fiorentina are Insigne‘s favourite opponent in the top flight of Italian football, having scored nine times against the Viola. Nicolás González, who scored against Empoli in Fiorentina’s last outing, has not been able to score a goal away from home this season thus far, which is something that he will aim to change this weekend.

Sassuolo vs Atalanta (11:55 AM EST)

Sassuolo currently sit in 10th place in Serie A with 43 points (11W-10D-10L), scoring the third-most goals thus far (56). In their previous league fixture, they suffered a 2-1 loss to a superior Lazio side that was looking to redeem themselves after a thumping 3-0 loss to Roma in the Derby della Capitale.

Atalanta currently sit in seventh place in Serie A with 51 points (14W-9D-7L), just one point behind Lazio for the final European spot and eight points behind Juventus for the final Champions League spot (with a match in hand against Torino). In their previous league fixture, they suffered a 3-1 loss to Napoli.

Match Insights & Players to Watch

Atalanta have remained unbeaten for 15 consecutive Serie A fixtures against Sassuolo (10 victories and five draws), with the Neroverdi’s last (and only) home win coming in 2013. However, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men have only won three of their last 13 Serie A matches, and Alessio Dionisi’s side have scored the most goals in since the beginning of 2022 (26).

Domenico Berardi has scored six goals against Atalanta in Serie A; however, he has lost the most matches against them (9/15). Giacomo Raspadori made his Serie A debut against Atalanta in May 2019; however, the Sassuolo striker has not been able to score against them in four outings in the top flight.

Torino vs Milan (2:30 PM EST)

Torino currently sit in 11th place in Serie A with 38 points (10W-8D-12L). In their previous league fixture, they defeated Salernitana 1-0 thanks to an Andrea Belotti penalty kick in the 18′, ending an eight-match winless streak.

Milan currently sit atop of the Serie A table with 67 points (20W-7D-4L). In their previous league fixture, they were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw against Bologna.

Match Insights & Players to Watch

Milan have won each of their last four Serie A fixtures against Torino, with the Granata failing to even register a goal in any of the matches. However, the Rossoneri have struggled to find the back of the net in recent times, only scoring more than a goal in one of the last six fixtures.

Andrea Belotti has scored Torino’s last two goals in Serie A against Milan and is just one goal away from equaling Paolo Pulici, Romeo Menti, and Guglielmo Gabetto as the club’s highest goalscorer against the Rossoneri in the competition. Zlatan Ibrahimovic could become the second-oldest scorer in Serie A history, overtaking Silvio Piola, with a goal against Torino; however, he is currently on a six-match goal drought.
