Career & Current Activities
65-year-old Lionello Manfredonia is one of the few players to have played for both Serie A sides, Roma and Lazio.
He made 233 senior appearances for the Biancocelesti (from 1975/76 to 1984/85) and 95 for the Giallorossi (from 1987/88 to 1989/90) before unfortunately retiring at the age of 33 due to a heart attack that he suffered on 30 December 1989 in an away fixture against Bologna.
During his career, the sweeper and central defensive midfielder also made 77 appearances for Juventus, where he won a Scudetto and Intercontinental Cup, and secured four caps for the Italy national team.
Currently, the Italian is involved with Il Vero Calcio (The Authentic Football) – an academy, which focuses on improving the technical skills of young soccer players aged 10 to 16.
