INGREDIENTS
Butter, for greasing the pan
2 1/4 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 cup pecans, chopped
1 cup chopped chunks of dark chocolate
PREPARATION
Preheat the oven 350 degrees F. Butter a 9-inch x 13-inch baking pan and line with parchment paper.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
Melt butter over a double boiler. Add brown sugar. Stir. Remove from heat. Add eggs one at a time, stirring with wooden spoon or spatula until incorporated. Add vanilla. Add flour mixture and stir just to combine. Fold in pecans and dark chocolate.
Scrape batter into prepared baking pan. Transfer to middle rack in oven. Bake until tester inserted in centre comes out with just a few moist crumbs clinging to it, about 25 minutes. Let cool completely before cutting. Cut into 12 or 16 squares.
Yield: 12 to 16 servings.
