2050: Artifacts from the Future of Medicine Exhibit at Toronto’s Columbus Centre | TLN Connects

2050: Artifacts from the Future of Medicine Exhibit at Toronto’s Columbus Centre | TLN Connects

Aging backwards just became a lot more attainable according to Artist, Scientist, and Philosopher Nick D’Aleandro as humans could potentially live up to 150 years of age.

D’Aleandro explains that the consensus by the Scientific Community is that aging is now considered a disease and can be treated as such, especially if it is looked at in the genetic and cellular level. Genomics, epigenetics, and bioinformatics are all fields that are on the rise and can aid in the research of aging reversal, a now attainable solution.

D’Aleandro describes his work as “Tinkering with the creative disruption of medicine in a positive way, on the way to a better future, and that “When talking about the future, we have to talk about the present”.

The exhibit is currently on display at the Columbus Centre and showcases the future of medicine geared towards the most desirable outcomes

Ontario Launches new Addictions Recovery Fund | TLN Connects

Ontario Launches new Addictions Recovery Fund | TLN Connects

The Vitanova Foundation in Vaughan will get 11 new supportive beds to help people with addictions and concurrent disorders and the Addiction Services of Central Ontario will get 6 new withdrawal management beds.

The news comes after the Ontario Government revealed it is investing $90 million to immediately expand addictions services and increase the number of treatment beds.

Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, the Honourable Michael Tibollo spoke with us about the effects substance abuse can have on a person when there is a lack of support and resources readily available. “People that want help, need to have the help — when they ask for it”, states Minister Tibollo.

The funding is going to help the continuum of care, improve supportive services, and help mitigate substance abuse all over Ontario.

Minister Rodriguez on the importance of Canadian multicultural ethnic media | TLN Connects

Minister Rodriguez on the importance of Canadian multicultural ethnic media | TLN Connects

We proudly welcomed our Minister of Canadian Heritage, the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez to our Toronto offices. He sat down with TLN TV on-air Host and Producer, Camila Gonzalez to speak about the importance of multicultural ethnic media and Latino/Hispanic representation in Canada. They also discussed the need for domestic producers and broadcasters of multicultural ethnic content to be officially recognized and supported in our regulatory and production systems. An especially timely message given recent issues with unchecked foreign media seeking to influence their diasporas and Canadians at large.

And Minister Rodriguez couldn’t forget about Soccer, expressing how well the Canadian National Team is playing as TLN gears up for its FIFA World Cup Qualifier coverage.

Thank you, Minister Rodriguez, for your commitment to and passion for our arts and culture industries!

Raising Awareness for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada | TLN Connects

Raising Awareness for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada | TLN Connects

TLN Media Group salutes Italian Canadian Matthew Sebastiani as the recipient of the Crohn’s and Colitis Canada ”National Unsung Hero”  award.  Current Vancouver Chapter President,  Sebastiani is a key pillar in generating awareness and raising funds for the organization.

Sebastiani was diagnosed in 2011, with minimal knowledge of the condition and the impact it would have on his life. In efforts to support the organization, raise funds and yield public awareness, he completed his first “Gutsy” walk in 2016, later joining the Vancouver chapter and becoming an ambassador for the annual walk which takes place across Canada the first Sunday in June.

Canada continues to have among the highest prevalence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in the world with 300,000 Canadians living with IBD, and researchers expecting this number to rise to 400,000 by 2030.

Sebastiani currently facilitates support groups and aids in volunteer retention for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, in addition to working with public officials on the “Go Here” App, geared toward finding accessible public washrooms for those living with the invisible condition.

TLN Media Group congratulates Matthew Sebastiani as the “National Unsung Hero“, for raising awareness and funds for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada.
