Hon. Robin Martin, MPP Eglinton-Lawrence, discusses the newly enacted “Bill 141 Defibrillator Registration and Public Access Act.” The bill creates an accessible registry of defibrillators across Ontario to aid those experiencing a cardiac incident.

Currently, Toronto has over 1,500+ defibrillators distributed across the city, the Registry Act (Bill 141) will assist 911 operators with locating defibrillators to the nearest location of the caller—a life-saving initiative that could mitigate a cardiac incident where paramedics are not yet on the scene.

Comedian Giuseppe Meleca talks bringing the laughter during the pandemic. Meleca creates hilarious online videos surrounding daily life with his Italian family—his inspiration comes from his Italian roots, specifically his parents, whose personalities are often featured in his acts.

Meleca has recently taken a “pandemic” twist to the acts, poking fun at the classic quirks of Italian parents during the lockdown.

Due to the ongoing pandemic and safety measures currently in effect, some families have opted out of this year’s usual Halloween activities. However, others are getting creative with decorating and costume creation, while still practicing social distancing.

Beatrice Comello, President of the Italian Students Association at University of Toronto Mississauga campus, talks going virtual—due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic restrictions—as part of the “new normal” for student life.

The Italian Students Association promotes events, seminars and workshops related to Italian culture. Comello has gone virtual with the Association in order to continue representing the spirit of the association and Italian heritage.

During the COVID-19 pandemic many of us rediscovered the relaxing pleasure of growing our own vegetables. Backyard, urban and private vegetable gardens became therapeutic. Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada’s Woman of the Year Alessandra Tropeano talks supporting the LLSC cause and being nominated for the title.

Tropeano’s grandfather passed from Leukemia 25 years ago, inspiring her to raise awareness and begin her involvement with the LLSC. Over the 9-week campaign, Tropeano raised $50,000 and was awarded the 2020 Woman of the Year Research Champion title.
