The Canadian Men’s National Soccer Team first qualified for the World Cup in 1986. Since that historic moment, soccer in the country has overcome numerous obstacles and decades of disappointment. With every new generation comes young players of diverse backgrounds and identities who all have the same dream – to make history as they represent The Reds.

TLN Media Group’s Original Documentary ‘Heart of Goal: The Rise of Canadian Soccer‘, follows the story of Jonathan Osorio and his teammates on their quest to qualify for a World Cup after 36 years, while also portraying a powerful story of multiculturalism. A first-generation Canadian, Osorio’s family immigrated from Colombia to Brampton, Ontario – a city that had a big influence not only in his soccer journey but also on the future of Canadian soccer as the new epicentre of world-class players. Osorio’s passion for the beautiful game started at a very young age, and at 17 years old, he moved to Uruguay for two years to play in a prestigious soccer academy; an experience that would have a lasting impact on his soccer journey. It was this time away from his home in Canada that made him realize that what he wanted was to represent his country. And so began his journey to change Canadian soccer forever.

As Canada’s Multicultural Media Leader, it is with great pride that TLN Media Group tells the stories of the immigrant communities we have served for nearly four decades, through authentic and diverse voices. Milan Djuric – who is yet to score in Serie A this season – found the net in his only home game against the Rossoneri in the Italian top-flight, at Arechi for Salernitana vs AC Milan in February 2022 (a 2-2 draw). The Bosnian forward has not started a single match for Hellas Verona in the current Serie A campaign.

AC Milan’s Junior Messias has been directly involved in at least one goal in each of his three Serie A appearances against Hellas Verona, scoring a goal with Crotone in both such meetings in the 2020/21 campaign and assisting at Bentegodi last May

Napoli have won each of their last four Serie A matches against Bologna (keeping three clean sheets), after the Emilians had registered two wins and a draw in the previous three.

In Napoli’s last nine matches at home against Bologna in Serie A, there have been seven wins for the Azzurri and only two for the Rossoblu – there hasn’t been a draw since a 1-1 on January 16th 2012 (Acquafresca and Cavani).

2015/16 (six points) is the last time that Bologna have picked up fewer points (seven currently) in the first nine games of a Serie A championship and the last time they won one of the first nine game came in 2013/14.

Thiago Motta remains unbeaten in both games as a manager at Napoli in Serie A: a 0-0 draw with Genoa in November 2019 and a 1-0 win with Spezia in December 2021 – two of his four cleans sheets on the road in charge of top-flight teams have come against the Azzurri.

Napoli vs Bologna: Players to Watch

Napoli boast both the defender who has created the most open play chances (Giovanni Di Lorenzo, 14), and the second-ranked defender for chances created in general (Mario Rui, 20, behind only Cristiano Biraghi, 30) in Serie A this season.

Andrea Cambiaso is the only Bologna defender to have made nine appearances in the league this season: his only Serie A goal came against Napoli, in the 2-1 defeat with Genoa on August 29th 2021.
