This week’s Champions league match for Juventus was one for the history books. Juventus vs Dynamo Kyiv featured Stephanie Frappart, the first female referee to officiate a men’s Champions League match, marking a progressive step forward from UEFA. In addition, the match will forever be remembered by Juventus Striker Federico Chiesa, who scored his first goal in a Juventus uniform and his first ever goal in the Champions League tournament. Touted as a future superstar, Chiesa impressed in the 21st minute scoring the first of 3 Juventus goals in their victory against Dynamo Kyiv.
After the match, Chiesa tuned in from Italy to chat with Halftime Show Host Camila Gonzalez about the historic night. When asked about the feeling of scoring his first goal he proclaimed, “to see the ball in the back of the net, it was amazing”. Chiesa went on further about talking to his family after the goal, noting how he scored his first goal 20 years later after his Father’s first goal, “it was a perfect night”.
Even with a historic performance, Chiesa is not content yet, highlighting the importance of the upcoming Derby della Mole when Juventus takes on their regional rival Torino. “It is going to be sad not to see our fans there against Torino, it is an important game, and we have to win it” Chiesa stated.
